Tips for studying for a math test: Stuyding for a math test is much different than studying for other subjects.
- First rule: Studying math is DOING math!
- Start studying ONE week before: Day 1) Read over all notes, Day 2) For each section of notes, bullet-point main ideas and what types of problems you see ideas, Day 3) Review your bullet points then re-work through problems in notes, Day 4) Do Review worksheet, Day 5) Do Review worksheet probems AGAIN but in a different order, Day 6) Redo any problems from notes, homework, quizzes, or review worksheet that you had issues with the first time, Day 7) Take Test
- Get at least 7 hours of sleep the night before math test (you need at least 6 for your brain to function at MINIMAL levels, so try to get 7-8)
- Re-write review worksheet questions in YOUR OWN words and write out steps to solving problems. For example, if I see “discuss the continuity of the given function”, I would write in my own words, “Is there any breaks in the graph? are there any holes, jumps, or vertical asymptotes? Is so, then either removable or non-removable. If not, f is continuous”
- ASK QUESTIONS!
A few strategies to get your started! If you follow these steps, your quiz and test scores WILL improve!
